951 Bad Vibes

I've just changed my motor mounts and still get very bad vibration at idle. I run a K+N cone filter as the only mod. I have disconnected th O2 sensor as it runs better without it, I know the plug leads are bad because you can see them arcing at night although you can't feel any misfiring on the road. Even with the above problems, I would not expect the idle vibration to be so bad. Its not like its missing, its a constant hard vibration. Could the balance shaft be out of sync? It feels pretty smooth above 3000 rpm. Do you think that disconnecting the O2 sensor can have such a marked effect on idle quality?????.
Thanks in advance.

Manku,
First, did you change all three mounts? Second, it is possible, as your wires are so bad, that you are getting "imported spikes" (voltage induced into one wire by the other). This would mean that ignition timing would be "virtually" out of time. My advice, change all the engine mounts at the same time, and change the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. If the vibration doesn't go away after that, then we can talk about ballance shafts etc. Although I imagine it's either the wires or one of the mounts that you missed. As, if you don't change them all and one is still bad, the vibration will be very strong. E me if you want to chat more.

Manku,
Sorry, I forgot about the O2 sensor. If the O2 sensor is disconnected and the car runs better, REPLACE IT! With the sensor disconnected the ECU goes into a type of "Limp home mode". Instead of real time measurements, it uses a table of calculated values. You will also notice a drop in gas mileage as the table is very rich in order to cover all the possibilities safely. Your car will run better with the system functioning as it was designed to do.
