Screeching Starter - help...
My "expert" friends feel that the bendix is making a screeching noise as it starts the car, is this something I could fix/lube or do I need to replace the starter? It makes the noise AFTER the car starts.

The starter solenoid is not disengaging (returning to in position) and the gear is probably contacting with your flywheel.
Remove the starter and you can clean and lubricate the gears and check the condition of the return spring. Rick
