Upcomming electrical problem???

While doing routine maintainence this last weekend on my 87 944, I decided to clean the battery terminals. After I was done, I hooked up my DMM to check voltage. Battery had 12.8vdc with engine off. This looked good. Fired the car up and it had only 13.8vdc at idle. I then revved it. Still 13.8. Flipped the DMM around so I could see it in the car and went into the car and started turning on accessories, lights, ac, etc. Still 13.8vdc at idle and at cruise speed.

I thought I should see in the neighborhood of 14.2-14.6 volts. Now I do not seem to have any electrical problems. I can leave the car sit for weeks and she fires right up, no dim lights, etc.

Just questioning.
Jay

Get an adjustable regulator then you can set it at 14.2 vdc.
