MOMO Shift knob and boot

I have a 1987 924s and the shift knob is rather boring, and the boot is now torn. I recently install a Momo wheel when my 3 spoke stock one broke. Now i am thinking about installing a momo knob as well as a Momo boot. I was wondering how the knobs work with a 924, i know i need an adaptor. I am looking at the combat knob, and the performance boot. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with these, and how well they fit.

Thanks!

I had a phanton carbon on the 91 S2 used to own. The problem is the adapter allows the knob to rattle on the gear lever. I couldn't stand it and I removed it.

A while back somebody on this board posted a link to place that sells an entire replacement shift lever that will accept the MOMO knob. I beleive this will work just fine. Do a search and I'm sure you'll find it.

I posted that link. It was to RPM Engineering in Knoxville, TN. Unfortunately, I think they've gone out of business because the website is gone and their phone number is disconnected. Oh well.
Speed Force makes a replacement shifter that takes an aftermarket knob, and also shortens the throw a bit. You can email them at timer1@home.com if you're interested.

I have a MOMO Cobra aluminum/leather shifter with the adaptor from Automotion. If you are looking for a good deal on shifters, I bought mine from Vertex for $60. They don't advertise at this price, but will sell at this price.

At first I had the same problem with the rattling of the shifter, but I just removed it and wrapped the adaptor with a layer of black electrical tape. Put it back together, and it has been fine ever since.

Thanks for the help guys. A bought the adapter from automotion a while ago when i bought my wheel adapter. Unfortunately, i was about to win an auction for a MOMO Combat knob on ebay, but it was cancelled, due to the sellers account being suspended. sounds like bad news to me. Now i think i might buy from ltbmotorsports.com, but im waiting to see what their March online specials are, that they didnt update yet.
