noise
I realize the difficulty descibing noises on the board, but can anyone tell me the difference between wheel bearing noise and worn torque tube bearings? Or a test to determine either, many thanks for your thoughts

Jack the car up and spin the wheel (obviously, car will be in neutral)
Worn bearings make a vague grinding type of noise torque tube makes the car sound like an airplane motor when worn. AFJuvat

If the car is in the air and the in neutral, spinning the wheels will not spin the torque tube. At best you'll spin the idlers in the diff.
To spin the torque tube you need the tranny in gear and the clutch down and you need to spin both wheels at the same time and in the same direction.

Well thanks for the input, I'm now sort of sure it's the tube, what sort of time am I looking at to remove, ball park figure?
