clarifying my speedo problems

Some more info on my problem. The odometer doesn't work now, but the speedo needle bounces when you push the odo reset.

SoCal addressed this one in some other threads.

Go to Clarks garage and follow his instructions for removing the Steering Wheel and Gauge Cluster. Sounds like a gear or maybe just unplugging the ribbon cable and plugging it back in....dont know cause I still havent gotten around to doing mine yet.

I have removed the instrument cluster and cleaned the contacts. (for the other gauge problems). I guess I need to pull the part on the trans. and/or the speedo.

Ok-- Jumping needle, it's time for a new cable. Mine jumped for about the last 6 months until it finally just gave up the ghost- wrapping itself around the left side tierod making it impossible for me to turn..
That's Bad, MmmKay!

I have had my speedo cable out a few times while solving the 2nd issue, no Odometer.
Time for a new gear- Pull the speedo apart and check to see if the gear has self destructed- NEVER reset the trip meter when rolling!! I think KLA has the gears for the "new" dash..
If you are lucky (as I was) the gear just slipped off of the pinion- a dab of superglue and you are done!

Good luck!
