Red face removing ignition lock from cluster... HOW?

ok, i need a bit of help here. i have to replace my ignition cluster (you know, that lightweight alloy thing around the steering column that the key goes into). i got a new one, but it doesn't have an ignition lock (the thing that the key goes into). how can i carefully remove my old one and plug it into the new one? i don't want to force it and bust it off.

thanks!

Obin,

About 4 pages ago, Brandon85-944 had the same question. I put the dimonsions you use to locate & drill hole to get lock cylinder out. Powerhuas replied with where the allen screw is to get the collar off the steering column.

drill where the two top holes are, the other two that i drilled were just hit and miss, and I missed.
Right where the two top holes are with yellow arrow, the clip is, and you stick a pick in, and push on the clip as shown in keyclip.JPG, and yank the sucker right out.

i am going to replace this one only because i am trying to get under the curtain for NY state safety inspection. after this is done, i am looking at wiring in a push-button starter. the centre console is coming out of my car, and i am measuring the place to put the centre guages.

thanks for the help though!
