Another bad noise

I decided to continue driving my car with the burnt out dash gauge until i can sell it. This morning i was heading to school and i went out and started my car and i heard the banging noise like something spinning infornt of the radio and underneath the car. It was running rough so i gave it a little gas and it died and whatever was spinning continued to do so. I pulled the key out and it still kept spinning it sound like a dump truck. Then i tried to start it again and the noise just kept going. Eventually the noise died out and i lifted the hood and smoke was coming from the back where the noise was again the fire wall. Later my dad went out and he said it started right up what is this?

Your car likes your dad better than you?

What did the smoke smell like?

Rubber? Then it was your clutch giving out.

Electrical? Then your starter is hanging up.

Fur? Then it was the neighbors cat.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

My money is on the rubber clutch, it will smoke bad if a chunk gets caught between the disc and flywheel.

Turns out the starter is bad. I drove it around for awhile and then when i stopped and tried to start it again it took a couple of trys. Sure enough after a few more starts it gave out all together. I took it out and overnighted one that should be here tomorrow. Also i was wondering if $3,500 sounds like a fair asking price for the car with all the work into it.

3500 is definately fair. perhaps a tad on the low end depending on condition and recent maintenance

Hell yes! After replacing the flex disc and then rebuilding a motor there's no way in hell I'd sell her.
  1. I'd never get what I would have to get to sell her
  2. I know that car like the back of my hand! I'd sell the turbo before I would get rid of the ol' gal
