Power window won't go all the way

My power window goes up, but stops when there is about 1/4 inch to go. It's so dissapointing when it tries so hard but doesn't make it all the way! I have to push it up the final 1/4 inch. Is this likely a problem with the motor, or is the window slightly off track? Any suggestions on how I could fix this myself?

damn, FR beat me to it

best way to start to check is to remove the door panel and try moving the window several times to see if it is binding in any way

make sure the window is in the channel on both ends for the whole travel range.

the channel that the window rides in, front/back could have something restricting movement but you said you can pull it up.

the channels can be r&r'd without removing the window if you have to replace them.

I've had the quarter gear break loose from the arm that raises the window. Three or four spotwelds.

Window woes

You may find that you have a problem with the motor or the regulator. You musr R+I the door panel and watch the window operation to diagnose it.
