Question What is it and what does it do?

Small metal cylinder

on back of airbox

two electrical connections

vacuum hose in, vacuum hose out.

??????????????


#2 Is the wire ground closest to the tower or the manifold?

No, that's the A/C "extra air in to compensate for the drag of the A/C belt thingy".

Yes indeed ----A/C a must in Florida.

So......If it wasn't working I would get a significant rpm drop at idle when the a/c cycles on...

aye, rpm drop. If one of em is brown, that's the ground, other than that, I can't really say. Get jiggy w/ voltmeter.

Auxiliary Air Solenoid. Energized when the A/C compressor clutch is energized. Allows additional airflow into the intake to compensate for the additional mechanical load from the A/C compressor.
