Post Clicking noise

HI,

Had some clicking type noises from under the bonnet when "cold" starting. only a couple of click's and not really a relay type of sound, a bit louder !

ONly when cold, and if switched off and restarted, no furthers noises

no other problems

Ideas ?

cheers

Get someone else to start it while you stand beside it with the hood open. Maybe it'll be more definitive then.

Does it always do it when cold? What weight oil do you use? Does it only happen after engine begins firing or while cranking?

I have had this same sound and I found out its the con-rod bearings. 944 con-rod #2 have hard time getting oil in the gernals and I just got my crank out and #2 and #3 was bad. I'm now getting over sides bearings for the main and the con-rods bearings. This is the worst repair I ever done. Its a BIG JOB!

I'll try that tommorow,

Only when cold, OIL ?? MOBIL 1, whatever was recommended by Porsche, Clicking heppens while cranking, literally only 2 or 3 click's
NO clicking when driving no problems with perfromance

Thinking abvbout it, 3/4 days thats was quite a loud rattle, similar to the sound when you've got a loose exhaust, when I started her when cold at night, stopped and re-started no noise. Not heard it since only this click.

That noise seemed to come from the back passenger side.
