My turn, my turn!

1. Sell 911
2. Buy a nice, turn-key 944 or 951

My list has to follow in that order, unless I don't mind sleeping in the garage (The wife would kill me).

Yes NAPA....Not NASA... although it is almost that difficult.

The problem is that the lights are really picky about how they want to sit in the early "holders". This will be the third time I go in there.

can anyone tell me if the 1.5W bulbs are correct or if they've been replaced? A fairly knowledgeable lighting guy says that the only standard bulbs in that format are 3W or 5W. Although it wouldn't surprise me to learn that they're Porsche specific.

Oh, I forgot one to-do on my list:

Change headlight fluid.

I must backdate my muffler bearings....I think one of them is going, so might as well replace them all while I'm in there.

1) Help ds475 pull his motor.
2) Convince him to give me any parts I want, for the help.
3) Kick him in the shin for not telling you guys he has most of the stuff you are looking for, early car.
4) Pray that I don't wreck my clunker soon.:D

One day I might pick up car from bodyshop...
1)reinstall 968 doorpanels
2)locate set of 87+ spindles/hubs
3)order 993tt calipers from sunset imports
4)sell 17" 996 twisties or keep them as track wheels
5)spend too much money replacing the sold 17" 996 twisties
6)buy something else before 944Fest (stage2 turbo or ledas/escort susp)

jm951 03-10-2004 12:50 PM

1. finish replacing suspension stuff
2.discover why tach is not working and correct or replace
3.discover reason fuel gauge vascilates and fix.
4. obtain and replace ujoints/steering column so that steering stops vibrating.
5. replace air box with one that has all of the original huts and bolts.
6.replace fan switch, and upper hose, install aluminum bleeder, replace thermostat and properly bleed cooling system

All this during feasts and adult beverages..

btw: why the switch? looking for a change of pace?

fast924S 03-10-2004 02:38 PM

its a 73 911 I would sell it too

ronin 03-10-2004 02:44 PM

what does that have to do with it?

sfierle 03-10-2004 02:50 PM

Why sell the 911 for a 944, you ask. I don't have time & spare cash to make my '71 into the RS Carrera clone I originally envisioned. Although a hoot to drive, I need a little more practical 2nd car. Besides, I am a car guy, I want to try something different. This is my second 911, I want to try a 944 now.

fast924S 03-10-2004 02:51 PM

everything... Its a oil leaking, air cooled lawnmower ..... I mean 911 , not a killer 924/944/968

cool deal. hope the 944 will be everything you want it to be. if you have a choice, I recommend the 951

1. Find out why the #$@% 944 won't start
2. When it starts, pray that my son doesn't wreck his 944
3. Pray the next morning that my son doesn't wreck his 944
4. Pray the next morning that my son doesn't wreck his 944

Gordon- Im not really sure about an early 944. I can tell you this. If an early 944 can swap to the later 944 85.5+ door panels then you can. I had to drill one extra hole in the door to mount the 968 panels. All other holes lined right up. Pretty easy, just takes awhile to get it right.

tab tanner 03-10-2004 05:02 PM

1. get well I have the flu
2. get my door ding fixed on the 87 944na
3. buy parts to fix my new toy(86 951)
4. drive my 911 like I stole it!!!!!
5. wait for warmer weather
6. read this board till my eye's fall out

toolboy62 03-10-2004 05:54 PM

Add one to my list:

Figure out why the trunk of my '44 is filling up with cold, cold water even though I resealed the taillight that I thought was leaking.
