Need asvice on whether these headers can be welded OK.

Well, after three years of ownership the cracked header has struck. This is the 2 3 header on my 1986 951. It is cracked where the shorter 3 pipe jopines the longer 2 pipe. The crack is about 50% around the join area. Is this too much to be welded so that it will be OK? It seems as though if it were welded it would have to be in a jig so that when its welded the bolts on the collectors will line up properly. This is the first time its happened so any advice from anyone who has gone through this is appreciated.

Do you have the recalled headers? There was a recall on my 86 951 a while back and I got some brand new headers for free from the factory and the dealer replaced them as well. Other than that, It probably depends on the skill of the guy fixing them!

Well, if these aren't covered by any warranty, any good welder should be able to fix them. I had my 1-4 header fixed, it was cracked all the way around, the bracket cracked right off, and it was splitting up the side of the pipe.
