the 944 606 XXX XX prefix usally refers to parts that refrence engine management like dme monitored items, such as o-2 sendors, temp sensors, pressure sensors and ref. sensors. DO you have a pic of this part. Are you sure the 944 606 151 00 is the correct number. Seams like it is a reference sensor number...

You mean the one on the right?, it's the altitude switch. I believe if you go above 4500ft it switches the DME to a different map for the thinner air. I Think...
