o2 sensor

is a rusty o2 sensor still good ? I got one out of my parts car that looks good except for the tip that is a little rusty . If its not good is there any way to clean it off ? If its toast than I will just get a new one . any advice would be appreciated.

a rusty o2 sensor will hinder performance. Unplug it and run the car, see if it's better or worse without the sensor

Unless they have a stainless tip, they will all rust. I've never seen one with a stainless tip.
The one I have in my car is a little rusty, and it's only a year old. It still works just like when it was new. As long as it's only cosmetic rust, and it isn't being eaten away, I would imagine it won't make a difference.

Although, it's always a chance installing a used O2 sensor.

o2 sensor

Thanks guys, I appreciate the advice . I think based on that I will try it and see if it changes any . The one in my car now is completly disconnected so if this one does anything it should be an improvement.

Isn't a disconnected o2 sensor better than an o2 sensor giving bad readings? I read somewhere that you'll get better gas mileage with no sensor than a bad one...

o2

I don't know if the one I got from my parts car is bad or not I never drove the car. All I know is that it has a little rust on the sensor tip. Thus my question .
