Things I learned at PelicanForums

Alright...

Because of this board I learned the following: (and then some)

Bought my P knowing little about them but enough about cars in general and I had no PPI.

Had belts done right away (hadn't been done for at least 8 years)

Car died and you guys helped narrow it down to Fuel pressure regulator

Regular care and maintenance

What a 951 is!

An old 924 has a whopping 85hp (almost bought one at one time)

What a 931 is.

To watch my oil for coolant and coolant for oil.

People seem to really like Guards Red.

Don't race a ricer.

LS Diff is an option (I had it)

Don't power shift these trannys.

There is more but you get the idea...
Thanks for the help while I was an owner and I hope to have another before or around Christmas!
I'll still be lurking.

I learned that there are others who share the same sickness. I've been sitting here at the office and looking forward all day to going home, opening a cold beer, and wrenching on the 944.....................

.....................and there's nothing currently wrong with it. I need help.

I learned;
some people are pretty frigging moronic.
THeir frineds give them horrid advice
If they were close enough to me, I'd probably choke the life out of them for being irritating.
They succomb to trendy B.S. and forego tradition, but tradition is becoming trendy now, so WTF do I know.
I can't really fix my car, but I like to think I can.
I'm great at solving other people's attitude problems.
I'm a real people person.

Hello... my name is Scott and I'm a 944aholic...

I learned that:

A sawsall can also be an automotive tool.

Not all mechanic's are *********s... for some reason AJ and Brit (speedy recovery) hang around here and help out us mechanical morons.

Some things never change, like guys in there teens and twenties waste an inordinate amount of time and energy worrying about what other people think about the car they drive, the wheels on that car, what color that car is, what stereo they have in that car, and what other people do to their cars.

And that Ronin is a German spy.

Scott, there are a few of us in out 20's who just want to drive the little cars.

I miss my '89 right now. I moved and took the "reliable" car ('95 Lincoln) leaving the Porsche to wait until I was established here. I've found that I can push the Lincoln farther than I ever thought just because I miss the 944. I kept up with a late-model 3-Series Bimmer on a really curvy road the other day. The look on people's faces when they see a 3,800 pound Lincoln chasing a Bimmer and keeping up is priceless.

Yeah Aaron I had a 94 T-bird (same chassie) and the thing was awsome... untill it started to fall apart. I had dreams of dropping a Lincoln V8 in there... ah youth.

Things learned...

Resist your curiousity to touch something in the car that is NOT broken.

Miles driven -and- Dollars spent (are remarkably close)

FR Wilk chip is Awesome, (but this does upset some people)

My wife HATES the car (probably cause I drove half way across the country to get it, on her birthday).

When I drive it, somehow it is all worth it....

The Lincoln is an amazing car. Plows through corners like a summ***** though. Too much front end weight with that 32 valve Modular V8 in there. But man, the 280 hp is sure nice.

Things I learned.
CHECK YOUR F'ING GROUNDS!
Make sure to replace your socks at the correct intervals. An old or worn out sock will cause many problems.
Change the damn belts if you don't have any records.
And these cars are more fun than they look.

Oh the things that I have learned...

I know more about wheel offsets, and backspacing then I ever really wanted to know.

You can rebuild your entire engine without ever posting, just by using the SEARCH button. I started my car for the first time in 2 months last week, after my compleat overhaul.

Socks do not make your car faster.

Porsche 924S's are faster then 944 because we don't have silly flares and we are better drivers. (unless you fail to avoid the deer in the road)

Shipping Porsche parts to Hawaii sucks.

You can Turbo-charge your N/A, but if you do it will cost your more then if you just went out and bought two 951's.

There is a direct corlation between my posting to alcohol consumption.

Things I Learned:

How NOT to fight a telephone pole.
All about CIS systems in general.
Not to buy a 924. EVER. NO EXCEPTION.
My next 944 should be a 951.
More people show up to parts-fests than social gatherings
SoCal Driver really knows his *****.
Don drives at 120mph all the time.
Nobody cares about the redline mark on the tach.

Vise grips are not to be used on a Porsche

How an internal combustion engine really works

Do things right the first time or you will do them over again (and again, and again)

Mostly I have learned that llama's are to be loved not eaten. Loved in the sisterly kind of way (unless you live in the south). Loved and given respect.
