a 4 litre 944 on eBay

this is that rarest of 944's: an '83 4 litre, with 6 cylinders and 24 valves. power locks and airbags are included, only 33K miles (yeah, right)... along with a twunt-headed seller!

Never buy a car at any place that has Autobahn in it's name.

See the disclaimer at the bottom "Not the actual miles..." Now it's up to 61,000 miles. Add 100,000 to it and I might accept that.

The hours your Porsche spends parked, you don't get those back.

Hey, watch it, I was high bidder yesterday

Okay, the guy's ad-writing skills aside, CarFax gives a decent picture of the car and he also e-mailed me some better pics that show it to be in pretty good shape - I figured it was worth a shot.

I doubt the auction will end - he's posted the car to eBay at least two other times and ended the auction early when it didn't break 4 grand.

I can't decide if the Metalic paint, ABS or the air bags is funnier. OH, I almost forgot the 4L engine?

Would you seriously trust someone that's either that unscrupulous or incompetent to sell you a car? The guy's clearly been hitting the wacky bong far too much, either that or the car has a salvage title and been underwater at the bottom of a lake with two dead bodies in it for the last two years (or something equally bad) and he doesn't want you to know about it.

Asking if you should replace that timing belt is like asking if you should re-use a condom that may have in hole in it with a hooker.

...and I called it. It appears the seller is just using eBay to advertise, and I suspect some shill bidding as well. After my initial bid of $2500, I got an e-mail saying I could have the car as a Buy It Now for $2700. Then another bidder showed up (with 0 feedback) and bid on the car until my max bid was revealed, and then I got a 2nd e-mail offering me the car for that amount. I didn't respond to either e-mail.

i worked at a dealership that did something similar. we would list cars and then i would use mine and my friends ebay accounts to have a bid war up to the right under the reserve to make it look like people wanted the car. then the next person to bid on it would hit the reserve.

They're actually getting kind of insulting now: I just got an fake "Congratulations - you WON!" e-mail, like the auction ended normally and eBay sent it, telling me to contact the seller to arrange payment. One of those good news, bad news deals I guess - they can't leave feedback about me, but now I can't warn others about them.

Ah well - I like the looks of that black car in TX with the polished Fuchs (though I'd swap them for my black ones with polished lips...)

what does "original miles' mean. How do you acumulate original miles? do you have to drive with your leg out the sunroof, does your dog drive the car, no pants on when you drive?

I hope I dont have too many unoriginal miles on my cars.

Original miles are accurate for the car.

If the odometer has broken, been replaced, or "turned over" then the mileage is no longer "original".

So if I put 165,000 miles on a 924S, only 100,000 of those are original? That should make for some confusion at the DMV. Good to know I can sell a high mileage Porsche by advertising it having "only 100,00 mile" when it actually has 250,000!
