Once again the na is broken down. This time I am getting fuel but no spark at all. I drove to a friends place and turned the car off. A couple of hours later I was leaving and she wouldn't start up. Earlier in the day my brake lights stopped working and if i hit the brake while idling it would cause the car to miss.

Assuming your battery negative is good and clean...and grounds are good.
Visually inspect the dme/fuse area for obvious aftermarket tampering or loose wires. When you say no spark do you mean none at the coil wire or the plugs?

Does the tach move when it turns over?
Sounds like speed/reference sensors. If the brake lights quit, I'd check the switch, it's down by the pedal. A possible reason for the missing when on the brake, is they are vacuum-boosted. If the car is not running right, it can get a little rough when you introduce a big vacuum leak, aka, step on the brakes. In my old subaru, if you hit the brakes hard 3 times in a row while it was idling, it would stall, but then again, it was a POS too.

My 87 na did the same tihing to me years ago. I checked everything and was about to buy a new DME when I found it was one of the positive leads off of the battery. You might take them off and change the terminals.
It might be a cheap fix

there is no spark at the plugs whenever i pull one and crank it over. With the ignition on i get 12 volts at the coil positive terminal grounding off the engine block.

What about at the coil wire (discon from the distr. cap)
Coil wires are rather notorious...if not...you have diagnosed you own problem...coil,

I also get 12 volts when connecting to the coil wire.

Dont kill yourself. The cranking amps from the coil is large.
Will the coil wire arc to metal when cranking? Have you inspected the rotor and cap? If your coil and coil wire are fine and it isn't getting to the plugs, that is the only other 'connection' in the 'circuit'. I am going with coil or coil wire. Good luck,,,,be careful
