944 haunted, window to another dimension?

i am driving down the road, minding my own beeswax. suddenly a chill goes down my spine!!! no, i feel a draft, and i look to my right, and the passenger window is lowering itself, all by itself. i hit both buttons, and it will not go up. will check fuses, but, is this a common gremlin.

thoughts appreciated.

dr tom

mine doesn't go by itself, but it sometimes won't go up or down. flicking the switch really quick sometimes gets it going. I took the switch off the other day and cleaned the plugin and whatnot... not sure if it did any good. I drive alone 99% of the time, so I just leave that window alone and its fine

i had a car do that to me before. then after a while whenever my base would hit the windows would go down a little. then sometimes id be driving down the road and the alarm would start going off. ended up being a loose alarm connection.

Asking if you should replace that timing belt is like asking if you should re-use a condom that may have in hole in it with a hooker.

i had the same problem w/ passenger side window.

the window switch has 2 springs inside which, in addition to providing the 'tactile response' (firm click when pressed) also keep the electrical contacts in place so they don't make a connection unless pressed. If you take apart the window switch and adjust the tension on the springs (sounds like yours might be a little too compressed) that seemed to work for me.

An exorcism is needed

a fellow Porschephile had a similar haunting in his 1990 BMW 5-series. Right after he bought the car, he allowed a valet to park it. Afterwards, the car was consumed by an overwhelming stench that would latch itself onto whoever entered. Relationships were ruined. A complete cleaning was unable to rid the car of the pesky spirits. Eventually he had to leave the keys in the car and hope that someone would steal it, because no dealership would take it back.

no, Jerry was actually the spectral B.O.

The valet was Ted Danson.

That episode was great =)
I'm a big fan of that show, sucks that it was taken off the air, but I guess it had it's time.

Could your knee be pushing against your window switches? a friend of mine kept doing that when he was in my 944, pretty funny stuff right there. Oh, my window switch on the driverside for the passenger window is fudged up, gotta push REALLY hard to make it work, sometimes that doesnt even do it.

I had passenger side window problems on my '84 a long while back. Turned out to be those two metal-looking tabs inside the switch. They were pressed too far in so they simply wouldn't make contact with the outside plastic part. Maybe yours are the opposite - the tabs are too far "out" and will activate if someone even looks at them wrong(?)
