Hi folks...another question from the newbie...when I bought my 944 late last year, I was distressed that the odometer wasn't working (had a rather interesting discussion with the seller)...however, when I bought my car to Cignatta's (Dan races 944s) to get some maintenance done, Dan was not overly concerned...looking at some of the threads going thought this BBS, a lot of members seem to share this opinion...
So, to cut to the chase: 1) Is is worthwhile getting the odomoter replaced/repaired (other than the fact I can track the miles for scheduled maintenance)? 2) Does it impact the resale value if I DON'T get it repaired? I value your advice. Thanks!

Replacing the odometer gear in an early speedomenter is a piece of cake, and as most states require the seller of a vehicle to disclose the accuracy of the odometer reading, fixing the odometer makes good sense.

Is the title already NAM (not actual mileage)??
If it is, it won't hurt the resale value any more if you don't fix it. However, for the sake of record keeping and such, I would reccomend you fix it.

you can replace the gear or the whole head from a wrecking yard.
i've done both and the head's gotta come out either way but you do have to pull the whole cluster.
