running on 2 cylinders?
Ok guys I need your help again. I changed my intake manifold gaskets. Sigh I didn't get new injector seals at first. Old seals were hard and brittle and they leaked when I put it back together. It idled a little rough but still ran good. So I got some new seals and installed them. Now it seems like it's running on 2 cylinders. I checked spark to all plugs. I also removed fuel rail and observed injectors. they were all shooting gas. Now at about 5000 rpm in 4th gear it bogs and there seems to be no acceleration when i hit 5th. Any ideas. 1989NA.
Thanks TG

I also unplugged each injector plug and 2 of them made no difference in the way it idled.

I ordered a new intake boot. In the mean time i tried taping up the gapping crack. Didn't seem to help.the whole thing seems cracked and brittle. Guess i'll just have to wait for the new one to come in. if that don't fix it reckon i'll try fuel regulator

I got the new boot in. installed it. no change. Looked at plugs they seemed to be fuel fouled.I cleaned them and reinstalled. no change. Checked fuel pressure. about 45 psi.

A 4 cylinder engine wont run with just 2 cylinders. At least 3 cylinders must fire up in a 4 cylinder engine to run.

About 12 pounds too high. See if the vacuum is hooked up for the fuel pressure regulator. If it is pull of the hose and see if there is gas coming out of the regulator.
Replacing the FPR is tricky. Don't hold the fuel rail when you loosen it. Use a large wrench on the big "nut" to hold it. You will crack the fuel rail otherwise.

I found a messed up intake gasket. Replaced intake gasket. Also found one of the intake vacuum hoses under the manifold had come loose. It seems to vary on the fuel regulator pressure I have read anywhere between 35psi and 48psi.But you think about48 psi on an 1989? Anyway it still seems to miss at about 5500rpm. Could it be from the hole in the intake boot getting the throttle body dirty? It also fuel fouled the plugs I cleaned um but I think news are in order

One more thing. Would excess fuel mess up the o2 sensor?
