Short Shift Help!

Ok so the car is finished after 50 hours of a clutch job....except for the linkage. I purchased a weltmeister short shift kit (same as shown here Short Shift so mine has a long shaft with a ball joint on it and a metal plate at the bottom...also included is an aluminum block with three holes in it...two small and one large. The instructions that came with it are complete crap. It says to disconnect trans linkage but it says nothing about the shift itself. I have NO idea how to put this in and right now the car is just minutes away from driving after 4 weeks execpt for this *(&(*&^ shifter! ANY help would be very much apprecaited.

So an update...I installed the old shifter just to get the car on the road and I called Weltmeister (now Performance Products) who proceeded to tell me that they could offer no assistance installing this part, the best they could do was let me return it. How do they expect people to install their parts when there are basically no instructions with it? He told me that they are supposed to be installed by a "Porsche garage" and I said that I just rebuild the engine and redid the clutch/trans and I STILL can't figure this silly thing out! I'm dying here..........

I think the reason you're not getting any responses is.....

Like me, lots of us have installed the short shift linkage, but I'm not sure if anyone has installed that other piece you are referring to.

I saw that block with the three holes on eBay advertised as a short shift eBay short shift , but I have no idea where it goes or what it does.

Maybe you got a deal and got two short shift kits (the linkage and the block)?

I think the linkage alone is a vast improvement over the stock. Why not just install the linkage and see what you think. It installs just like when you put the old one back on

Does this install at the tranny, and not at the shifter?

Should do a search. Think it installs at the trans.

I appreciate the input but I figured it out. You remove the stock linkage AT THE TRANS. I found a Paragon tech session that explains how to install my exact kit... http://www.tech-session.com/kb/index.php?page=index_v2&id=42&c=4. I hopefully will be putting it on tonight. If I had known that it was for the trans I would have installed it while it was out of the car however, nothing came with the kit :-/

I took so long to respond because I was trying to figure how to fit it at the shifter. Sure looks like it would be easier to install with the tranny out, but I would think you have room with the transmission in the car. Sure would like to see your car once its finished, you've got some interesting mods.
