Engine Noise.... Help

I finally got the 84 (n/a) I aquired started today.
It was just a loose coil wire
This car sat for a year before I got it.
It sound like a deisal engine!!!!!
From what I understand, the motor only has about 20 miles on it.
There is no water or anti-freeze in the oil and the oil level is fine.
Could it just be from sitting so long? I let it run for about 10 minutes but it didn't change

probably the lifters have blead down. run the car enough to warm it up good, assuming your oil pressure and temp are good. they should pump back up.

Ya know it sounds like the knock you get with to low of an octane fuel. Could the gas just be bad now also?
The problem with letting it run is that the fans are not comming on so I shut it down before it gets hot.
I will try and chase the fan problem tomarrow

you should drain and change the fuel. old gas gets sticky and could harm your fuel system. also change the oil, this may help with your lifters also.

I take it you checked everything before you started it. A fresh rebuild making a lot of noise is not good.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

How about the timing and balance belts? Are these new? Is the pulley alignment correct? Could have the timing belt a tooth off or one of the balance belt pullies a half turn off. A turned balance belt pulley will make the engine vibrate like heck!

She could be running on 3 cylinders....... the injector wires corrode pretty badly.

...but its really hard imaging what things sound like.
