Let's combine our knowledge

I've successfully weaned myself off of the OT forum, thank God, and abandoned Slashdot forever. So, I have that much more free time to dedicate towards this project.

I set up a subdomain on my server for this (http://garage.e4industries.net), and anyone can go sign up for an account.

Let's pool our knowledge and build something. This forum is great, and I think every procedure possible has been detailed at one time or another. The "Garage" won't exist to compete with this forum, but I'd like it to become something like Clarks-Garage, only more interactive.

Anyone else in? If we get enough knowledge, maybe we could turn it into a book like CJF was talking about.

Good deal. I liked the idea of a wiki, as it is very flexible for cross referencing info. I'm in, fwiw.

Sounds like a cool project. Open source? I think it's a great idea.

Awesome, guys! After I do my homework tonight I'll start on a prelim index and system of categorization. There is no topic at all I'd want to leave out, so the v8 guys and turbo/propane/nos guys can jump in too.

Been trying to do something similar with MSN groups, with downloads, shops by state, etc

Not having much luck with people finding the group though

Feel free to msg me and check it out. I can't post a link because it has some stuff on it I know is sensitive

I think i have a handle on the whole CMS thing... strange settings are hidden in weird places and there are some goofy quirks I haven't figured out yet.

Aaaaaanyway, I'm thinking the bulk of information should go under the Sections headings, then news stories will be used to say, "hey, we posted something new or updated info for _______" and link to that section/article. There's a FAQ section too, so info can be added for specific questions, and links to sections can be added in there.

Thanks for posting, Mike and toolboy!

Went against doing it wiki-style, only because it's so much harder to prevent vandalism and stuff like that. Once some more people sign up and start contributing, we'll add more admins and it'll take on more of a community feeling... i hope It's about as close to a wiki as we can probably get.
