Question Wierd Mpg Gauge reading,.. hunh?

Just a lil while ago after coming from school and about a few mins after that i started my car and the mpg gauge Was jittering very fast like a Bee's wing. usualy it stay's solid when the engine is idling but It was jitterning while reving and the gauge reading high mpg and low mpg. Any ideas what it might be? Anyone else have/had this problem before.

It has been raining and i don't got a battery covery so i guess maybe somewhere a ground was a lil wet and was triping off teh mpg gauge?

Thanks
J

check for vacuum leaks. From what I remember that guage is controlled by the DME directly and not by vac, but if you have vacuum leaks that can bounce erratically.

I think i Got most if not all vacuume leaks. ( still a few im sure ) To my knowlege this problem has only recently shown up. I Do remember the DME controlls it but i don't remember what sensors the DME uses to produce the ratings. I fear that may be my problme

Will check the vac's over again tho just in case

I'll see if I can find the section in the factory manual about troubleshooting that guage when I get home. I ran across it yesterday looking for a problem with my car.

How did this one resolve? I'd be interested to know because my MPG gauge sometimes gets confused.
