constantly running cooling fan.

i'm sure this one has been beat to death, by most on here, but i guess its my turn now !
i noticed the cooling fan did not come on at the usual temp, and after a quick prod, it did so, but stayed on. also, after a longish run, i would hear the fan run at low speed for a couple mins, b4 shutting off. this has gone too. i'm suspecting the cooling fan relay, accompanied by the thermofan sensor. anyone have any other idea's/ suggestions ??
tnx in advance.
i guess now its in the 70's, and time for cruising, the old girl is having her time of the month again!

The temperature switch for the fans has to match your thermostat. If you are running a high degree thermostat and a low temperature fan switch the thermostat will close to raise the engine temperature and the fan switch will turn the fans on constantly to cool it back down making the two devices work against each other. If you have a high temperature thermostat, use the higher temperature fan switch and vice versa.

ok, now i'm confused. i took both relays out, the cooling fan relay, and the air condx relay. after checking clarks garage, it would appear that both relays should be the same electrically, as they have the same pin connections, but they dont. the air condx relay, seems to be a "multi-use" relay, for several applications, and the connector #'s dont match whats in clarks! looks like one side of the relay contacts is well burned up, so thats one problem, and also #3 fuse, additional board had gone south too.
so, i'm ordering a whole bunch of relays, and thermo switch, and the friendy sparks at work, is going to check/repair my coling fan resistor, as needed.
as far as i can see {bearing in mind i'm electrically-challenged), it looks like 2 cooling fan relays are required, as the diagram shows two sets of contacts, needed at each relay!

additional info, the relay in air condx spot is marked "#24". its a larger one in the cooling fan spot, and the terminals are marked A/B/30/85/86/87.
