We're in a huge heat wave here on top of the massive storms. Within the last week I think the heat index down here got to 113.
It's noon right now and my thermometer in the shade reads 95.
I'm glad they got my power back on quick, I would hate to be the 120,000 people or so still without it.

It's not that bad. At least power is on and life is quickly returning to normal. You been to New Orleans lately? We have a beautiful fall coming up. My wife and I are already planning a road trip to Wisconsin for late September. She will fly into Chicago and then I will pick her up in the 944 to take a 400-500 mile trip looking at Frank Lloyd Wright's projects. It will be the first real trip in the Porsche. We did a similar thing in the 964 but the old 944 should be fun. She won't ride with me from St Louis to Chicago, something about it being boring. We will also get to see our daughter in Chicago and go party downtown. She lives about 5 minutes from Wrigley in Southport, not that the Cubs will still be playing then. They will be sitting back watching the Cards in the playoffs.

A friend of mine worked for the St Louis ABC affiliate at the time as a cameraman. He got me in. It was great, all I did was carry the battery pack for the remote interviews after the games. The rest of the time we either stood in the area behind home plate or in the press box. 83 was not as fun. I am afraid that any of the AL teams will kill whoever goes from the NL this year. Have you been to the new Busch? It has the most gratuitous use of advertising I have ever seen, it's obscene. I don't think there is any flat surface bigger than a 944 hood that does not have illuminated advertising. My wife's company bought the old Marriot by the stadium and just redid it as a Hilton. It's kind of cool in that you can see into the park from the rooms on the South side. I grew up in Conroe and still remember going to the eigth wonder of the world (Astrodome) for the first time. A friend of my Dad's developed the first Astroturf. He is now old but definately living large.

That was a cool series. I remember in game one when Lonnie Smith attempted to steal home. Don Sutton had a LOOOOOONG wind up and Smith was taking a HUGE lead. I told my friends he was going to steal and he did. While he got in safely, sadly the ump blew the call (as verified by replays). I could have seen the last time home was stolen in a World Series.

I have not been to the new stadium. What I have seen in TV has been disappointing. The cgi images on the team web site a couple of years ago were gorgeous.

I haven't been to StL in about 12 years when my old girlfriend got married (she came to my wedding too - we are still friends). I'm thinking of doing the StL Marathon or perhaps the one in Columbia (I went to Mizzou for a short time), but that's pretty much the billygoat marathon so I'm not sure about it.

BTW, have you heard about Renntreffen at Lake of the Ozarks in late September? It's been organized by folks on Rennlist. My wife and I will be going. Sounds like great fun.

I have very fond memories of StL. I lived there from 81-83.

I have not heard about the Renntreffen. I don't get around much with the car clubs. The last one I really did anything with was the Triumph club. They blasted me because my car was "obviously not a stock color". Indeed it was not turd brown, dull dark green, or that weird faded red. I had totally redone a 76 TR6 in Mercedes smoke silver. The car was gorgeous. I'm sure my 944 would not be well received. If you trek through St Louis give me a shout. I moved here in 77 after getting out of the Cullen College of Engineering in Houston. I wanted to make cool airplanes but wound up opening a Stereo Store. Oh well, life has some unforseen changes. I married a girl from here, and probably will die here. I guess it could be worse, I could be a Cubs fan (or Astros).

This is pretty typical of British car clubs. They also take some kind of sadistic joy in the fact that they must repair their car constantly, often in the middle of a spirited drive. Still, I like the Leyland cars and old Jags (my father also had a TR6 for about 2 months, and my friend's dad has a Spitfire)... I've actually thought about picking one up a few times, just to have a cheap, small convertable. Maybe some day.

Renn meet in the ozarks? I will also have to look into that. I absolutely love the lake. I used to head down there every summer a few times. Its about a 4 hour drive from here. It's always so pretty, and the drive is part of that. Lots of hills. And twisties. All fun....

That is certainly a very wrong assumption. This group would think it was really cool. It's a good group that is anything but a concours group. It's organized by some of the KC Wrenching Society guys (sounds a LOT more formal than it is).

How cool. For sure I'd give you a shout. Where abouts are you located, as well as your store?

I moved to Houston almost 11 years ago thinking this would be a relatively short stop. Met and married a women here who actually is from NH. Neither of us has any feelings for returning to our hometowns permanently and now my entire family has moved to TX (everyone else is in the DFW area), I doubt we'll ever leave. Go figure.

The stores here closed in 86. I had Auto-Earotic on Lindburgh @ Olive. We got almost 15 times what we paid for the property so it was aidios to the car stereo world for me. We still have a retail operation in Springfield, IL but here we primarilary provide engineering consulting for real estate developers, hotels, theaters, resturants, etc and then run the jobs for them with respect to any type of low voltage wiring: phone, data, TV, audio, etc. It's boring sometimes but definately pays the bills. We do a lot for THF realty who develop Walmart properties nationwide. My wife's company owns and manages 18 hotels and 4 conference centers so we also do a bit with them. We live in the city of Oakland, population 500 situated right between Kirkwood, Webster Groves, and Glendale. Our only business is a Country Club. It's great, the mayor does his thing part time out of his house and we are in the trees 15 minutes from downtown.

Where you live in Houston. I grew up and went to high school my first two years in Conroe before the lake existed. The San Jacinto River looked like somebody emptied an old radiator. We went to a wedding @ the Petroleum Club in Ft Worth a few years back and my wife and I road tripped to Galveston. She had never been to Texas. I did not even recognize Conroe. We moved to Freehold NJ for my last two years. It turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me. Before that I thought everybody was a white Christian except for the Blacks and Mexicans that lived on the other side of the tracks. Freehold is beautiful as is a whole lot of Jersey. I went to high school with Bruce Springstein and Donald Fagan lived not far away in Princeton. There was definately some good music going on in some of the clubs, especially around Asbury Park. I almost hated going back to Houston for college.

Shikza that is a beautiful example you have there I must say. I;m pretty new on the scene but it is one of the sharpest NA cars I have seen so far.

Any update on the supercharger?

Who knows. I have been in contact with the supplier and he is supposedly getting it to me next week as a fully functional kit. I'll believe it when I see it. I did get in a Lindsey Racing fuel rail w/ adjustable pressure regulator and a high pressure pump. Everything is sorted out as far as the suspension, interior, body. If the SC does not arrive as promissed I will have to go ahead with criminal prosecution, eat the money fronted, and buy a kit from someone else over the winter.

I just got in the most complete kit I have seen to date for the car. I bought the Lindsey Racing rail w/ adjustable regulator. After some of the recent hosing I have taken on the car this has to be the most thorough and thought out thing I have bought. After 2 hours everything was on and running. It looks killer and when I get in the SC it is going to be really easy to control fuel pressure. It actually made a real difference in the normal driving by itself. Midrange is extremely responsive with none of the lag I was experiencing. By the way, it looks gret. I'll post a couple pics later. Mrs 944 (my wife) has requested grilled grouper w/ fresh vegetables in a fresh orange reduction. Gotta do what she wants.
The grill is hot and she still is too after all these years together putting up with my nonsensical hobbies / obsessions.

The Lindsey Fuel Rail is INCREDIBLE! I always wanted something to replace the crappy stock rail, but the price seemed to be ridiculous. Once I received, I was left thinking they could charge more for such a work of art. I installed mine today on my 944S, I also have one on my 951. They are incredible!

Is this the one that has the fuel pressure regulator on the top with the adjustable knob? I take it you just turn the screw to adjust pressures? Or am I thinking of something else/completely wrong. I was looking at pics of an adjustable fuel pressure reg on their site a few nights ago and it looked like a stock reg with an adjustment knob. Is that what is used by this?

Definately cool. I thought $599 was high until I opened the box. It's packaging is very professional, a bigger deal than it sounds like after some of the bull **** I have seen. It's a first rate eye candy functional thing.
