So these parts that are getting shipped- are they from the guy you got the SC from? Or did I read that wrong... I hope they are so maybe you get the SC in soon.

The cool thing is you don't need to know alot going into a project like this. You just have to be *willing to learn*. A mechanical background helps though.

After seeing the stuff that came in today I think that a fly by the seat of the pants is out of order. I got in the new MAF and tuner setup and have been fuddeling through the CDROM. I am really excited as it looks like the thing may actually be rock-n-rollin this summer. I intend on waiting until all parts are in front of me at which point the ferret and I will proceed with the install. I need to keep him busy as the female passed away last week. I may have to change my ID as Shikzachaser was from me chasing her around all the time (her name was Shikza). Kishka is really bumming and I like to keep him busy. Give me a shout Schumi, I PM'd you my #. We could down a few cold ones and check out your ride in A/C comfort in the garage.

You bought an Audi Sport Quattro brand new!?!?!?! I'm in total envy.

Yeah, almost $43K, my wife was ready to kill me. White w/ dark brown interior. It was something like 275 HP from the factory and reall\y fast, especially for the time. I never did the rally thing as I could not afford to crash and replace the car. I had it until 1996 when I sold it to a guy in Florida for $26K w/ around 75K miles on it. It was really kind of ugly but definately a screamer and nobody knew what it was unless they were into this stuff.

I am ready to put a pistol in my mouth

I just came out of the grocery store to find the passenger side rear quarter panel caved in from some a-hole doing a hit and run. At least they did not hit the Fiberwerks stuff. I just get in parts to start the final go around on the engine and now back to the body shop.

Ouch. I mean..... ugh thats just terrible.

File a report? (don't know what that would do..)

I guess theres not much you can do but move on. You could camp out at the grocery store in about a week and look for a car with red paint marks on it. Then take any course of actioned deemed neccesary. Hit and runs always suck. In this case the guy probably saw what kind of car it was and just took off. A-holes man, a-holes.

Nobody hurt, State Farm treats it as a non premium raiser. Guess I just eat the $500 deductable and move on. It's still a drag because the car has had minimal body work and has zero rust. I should not feel so weird driving it now. It's not even noticable to 90% out there. I just feel like people are staring as if I had a penis growing out of my forehead. This has been a bad Monday. My wife called me from about 15 miles away and it seems that the M3 radiator broke off flush to the upper hose. Apparantly it's a very common $750 problem. At least she has been trained to immediately pull over and shut it down at the sign of a problem. She has had a lot of practice as we have had 2 Fiats, 3 MG;s, a Triumph Spitfire, and 2 Jags since we have been together.

Thats how my front end is. My lower valence has had a run in with a ditch (previous owner) and to most its not noticeable but whenever I drive it in public I always feel like evryone sees it. I have a nice Porsche factory leather bra that covers it up but it detracts from the looks of the car so I only use it about 50 of the time. I would have hte bodywork done but I can't find a replacement valence for a 24S.

Hope you get it sorted out. That also sucks about the M3. what exactly do you mean it 'broke off' flush with the upper hose? You mean the upper hose came off at the rad or the radiator bracket broke off on the top? Sounds ugggh especial for 750$.

steve,

Sorry to hear about your hit and run and your m3 problem. I can't tell you how great it was to sit in front of the computer for hours and read your postings. I have an 84 n/a and its my daily driver. Love it to death, my clutch is going so I'd love to hear how your repair for your clutch goes. I don't trust myself nor do I really have the time to do it. Looking forward to hearing more of your postings and more pics!

The radiator itself broke. The inlet and outlet are molded plastic. Appararantly this is very common. A friend of mine here in St Louis has a large independent shop and is also the Dinan dealer. He siad they do a couple a week. My cost through them is $540.

You know there was this Seinfeld episode where Jerry sees a hit and run... and when explaining it, Kramer says that exact line I believe.

Thats strange about the radiator plastic. They take their weight reduction serious I guess. (?) :-(

"What kind of a sick lowlife would do a thing like
that? You know those people, you know they're mentally disturbed. "

lol.

Apparantly there is a real problem. A guy in Michigan has a suit going where he literally had one blow offf while he was in front of the car w/ the hood up. Seems he was burned badly enough that he will no longer reproduce. Is this Darwin at work or actually a poor design?? Seriously he has been asking independent shops to send the broken cores as BMW says they have never heard of the problem. My 5 series did the same thing, something about the resin they use not being able to heat and cool properly.

looks fine i would just paint it and leave it at that. Just remember that when someone sees such a cool car like the 944, thats the last thing they are looking at. I actually like seeing cool cars in bad shape, it makes me think of the possibilities.. But anyways i wouldnt worry about that unless you want it perfect, which is your choice.

Tom:

It will be perfect. It looks a lot worse in person, the lip is folded back 2 inches and the fender is creased pretty bad. With what I have done to this car I won't have it dented.
