Hey, it's for sale for a mere $125k. Low mileage, only driven to church by a little old lady. She probably looked pretty weird arriving in a fire suit and helmet,

Hmmm, 125K eh? Well, its a little more than I like to pay for my 924's, but I have been thinking of getting another fun car.

Steve if you are still considering the LS1 swap (please don't bash me guys) After driving the results of a supercharged setup and driving an LS1 (brothers Camaro) there is absolutely no comparison on power. Bang for the $$ definately goes to the LS1. They also get about 28mpg to boot and very reliable.

IMHO if you are looking for possibly the funnest ride you could imagine I would go the LS1 route. I have done a swap with a 240z and even a low budget rocket is just soo much fun. Myself I now have 2 of these fine cars (944's)and if I can find more time and a few more $$ I will absolutely do the LS1 in the red one. I think that out of all the cars I have built over the years that, if I get to do this, this will be the best of all of them.

Anybody got a ballpark idea of what my motor would be worth not including freight? I am really just curious at this point.

74K original miles.
All new top end
Lindsey fuel rail and reglator
951 wide fire headgasket
Bosch injectors
MSDS headers
bunch of stuff polished or powder coated
mini CAT
all new belts, tensioners, water pump, wires, etc
I have receipts for all the stuff.

I would say in the ballpark, the engine is worth about $2200 with the header.

I am not a purist by far but seriously.. putting an LS1 in a 944 to me is just... dirty. I really like seeing that Porsche lettering on the cam tower when I open the hood. A big V8 swap, even if it did give a lot more power... makes me feel like I just slept with Paris Hilton.

Just my opinion.

dont get me wrong... paris is dirty, but i wouldn't turn her down if she was sprawled on my bed in a hooters uniform, holding 2 pitchers of beer...

that said, if i had the money and knowhow.. i'd consider putting an LS1 into my car..

Schumi, you just slept with Paris Hilton?....was that you in that Paris Hilton video?

Swapping engines is something I thought about as well. I really like the reliability and low maintenance of an American motor..not to mention the power as I really enjoy the feel of acceleration, but it would take some work. It would be a fun project. I have talked about a smaller V6 as you could build those with enough power for the 944 as well. Of course the question after that would be...could the transmission hold up?

maybe.. maybe not... but if he was gonna buy another SC anyway, he could put the money he was gonna spend on the SC towards the motor, sell his current motor.. sock it away, or spend the 2200 (or whatever he got for his motor) on a new transmission.

If a person were to be smart with it, I think it would hold up. The weakest link is probably the tires anyway, so as long as you didn't spend each weekend drifting, it should be okay.

We looked all over Vegas for her. We even ate at the Eifel Tower which is affiliated w/ her daddy. I bought two pitchers and went back to our room and waited. Jeannie and I drank the pitchers and did'nt care if she showed or not.

The LS1 thing is just a thought. I am not nearly as advanced mechanically as most of you guys but Renegade pretty much can provide proven stuff to make it happen. The car is actually running well now and for the same amount I would have to put in it I could just go out and buy another M3 or something. I am confused and still kind of upset over the way the SC adventure has gone. I am picking it up tomorrow as I had the dent guys take out a few minor dings while we were gone. I may just put it away and then decide what to do. The fall weather is coming up and I want to still drive it some before winter.

It got back from the dent guys and really looks good now. I also got in the replacement for the defective Schnell short shift. I have probably done something bad but I have it and the Speedforce one installed together. The shift is about 2" and very precise. It's a huge difference. While it was apart I installed a new bushing (actually two as I cracked the first one trying to get the shifter back in place). I wound up boiling the second one in water for a few seconds and it worked a lot better.

So you are running both a short shift handle and a linkage kit?

I have often wondered about such a configuration and how dramatic the change would be.

Big change. Very positive feel. It takes more physical effort but feels great.

Thanks for posting the pics Steve, some nice looking cars there! Your wife looks happy in the pic, that would have been a great time to tell her you've decided to buy an RSR for $550,000.
