door handle Question

Does anybody know if it is possible or has done this?
I have all the parts to install the late model central locking system to my 82 except the door handles. Can you install the later model micro switch to the early model outer door handle and how do you do it? I haven't had a look yet and don't want to bugger things up, one Shot to get it right.
Thanx Barry

Just hook a door actuator motor to the lock rod and make it remote control. Easy Peasy and much better than using a key. You won't need to bother with microswitches in the door handles this way. Or if the car has a factory locking interface, get an alarm or locking module to trigger this.

Thanx for your reply Tez just removed that system as it was taking 2 sevo's to move the rod on the drivers door and oginal servo connects straight to the latch. I intend to hook it up to the alarm system I have as it has the remote option. I just want to hook the micro switch as a fail safe/overide for the alarm system. If the alarm don't dissarm the car don't move 4 way shut down.
1) Fuel pump
2) starter motor
3) Coil isolator
4) Injector shutdown

Oh by the way loved your interior and thought you may have been a mexican didn't think about a Kiwi thought I might have gotten some tips on the interior if you were close.

Huh? not to sure what you mean? None of that makes much sense to me mate. Is Black Widow an alarm brand?
FA18's? Nope sorry Baza, you have lost me. They must all be Australian names for things yeh. Sorry, hope I don't sound rude but I just don't understand what you said to well.

Still not to sure why you need to go the long way round with central locking though. You can always get back into the car through the boot if something goes wrong. And the immobilisation would not deactivate if something went wrong with firmware by unlocking door for alarm anyway so you couldn't get it to start still. I am also an electronics tech and also have designed my own car alarms so am a little lost as to what you are trying to do. Sorry if im not making any sense, I just wanted to try and help but don't understand exactly what you are trying to do so I am confusing myself now I think. Lol. Maybe I should stay out of it before I confuse myself even more.

F/A-18 as in Attack Hornet? Nice. Thought much the same when you mentioned Black Widow... but weren't they last flown in the 50's?

Baza to Tezme dictionary. :P

My sons a tech for RAAF modified a black widow.
(black widow is a car alarm)

The government ha(s) some great facilities to play in, it was my fathers day pres(ent) (the Black Widow).

He is going to fit it when he next has leave (leave of absense from RAAF - air force i believe).

Our tax dollars at work (trained him) to upgrade FA18's (planes) and builds alarms for fun.

He built one for his HSV (car perhaps?) and I said I liked it(.) (The) next thing I know(,) I get a Package in the mail.

Thats why the long way round with the central locking. (he's working with a pre-existing system to fit to his car that his son built, hence the long way around.)

Tez don't know the nuts and bolts of it but Ill try to explane, My son took a black widow alarm system and modified it so that it run an injector ground so that when activated it runs the 4 point dissarm, the system allready has remote access option, and he added an overide switch. It was my idea to use the micro switch for the over ride as it is a standard part of the car and is well concealed and we don't have to hide any switches under the dash. As to the F/A-18 it is the Hornet fighter attack jet. So he has some nice facilities to play in when he has nothing to do and gets bored and has tendancy to do things just because he can. Hope this helps you understand, because I don't have a clue how he does it. As to climbing through the back hatch well lets be nice and say the old knees are not what they use to be.

924racr The black widow is a brand of alarm system here in Australia.

Oh thanks for that Baza. I get ya now. Actually thats really interesting with what you say about the injectors. So has he made the alarm (while activated) hold the injectors high so the ecu cannot switch them on properly? Thats a fantastic idea. I no Nothing about planes so thats why I didn't understand the FA18 bit and I never heard of Black Widow Car Alarms here in NZ. Oh, you want to use the microswitch as the valet switch? Thats a good idea actually, no one would think of that.
Thanks also 924RACR.

That is very clever Eldorado. But I am not RETARDED!!!!!!!!

Sorry Kyle forgot I was on an international forum.

HSV stands for Holden Secial Vehicle. They are factory supported satelite company who modify new cars to specs that are not normal with new car warranty. ie: your GTO is accually made here as the Monaro and HSV up grade the suspension, brakes, special interor, body kit and of course add a couple of extra KW's
