Dave Ward needs to stick to the 356's that he is so familiar with. Pull the HV lead out of the top of the coil and test the windings. Make sure you have set your ohm meter correctly for the expected readings.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

Just wondering, has anyone ever heard of a coil actually being bad on a 944? ????????????????

Every time I hear of coil changes is when nothing else has worked.

MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT IS COMING FROM THE FLYWHEEL SENSOR USING A SCOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know he said he had tach bounce but still I would check.

Spark is fine now.........

but now theres not any fuel!

I tested the fuel pressure before and it was fine and now I have no fuel. How in the hell does that happen. Looks like the pump isnt working at all. Ill be checking the wiring this weekend.

I wouldn't jump straight to wiring...that's actually the least likely. Jump the DME relay according to clarks-garage and see if it runs then.

Re: Just tried to start it with a new ref sensor...

Oh and I agree the DME jumper is an easy check, and a must do.

1/4 tank ...i already jumped it and the pump isnt running ....I hate how things keep dying on this car trying to get it running after sitting.

This may not help but at least it is a good story.......
I helped my son put a new/used engine in his Maxima last summer (most of the original engine got spewed across Commonwealth Ave in Boston when it threw a rod) and we couldn't get the replacement engine started. Kept getting codes about the ref sensor and other codes and no spark and no injectors firing. I spent two months friggin with this thing, almost wore out my multimeter and I sure learned a lot. The problem turned out to be the replacement engine was stiff from sitting and the starter, even with a fully charged battery, couldn't get it going fast enuf or smooth enuf for the ECU to see a good signal from the ref sensor. After installing an upgraded starter we were good to go.
Anyway, You may want to try to jump start your car to eliminate this possibility.
Hope this helps, good luck.

Jon

I already drove the car after i put the engine in....it started stalling intermittently then finally stopped working....Im thinking 2 parts went bad at once...the coil and the fuel pump (from the gunk in the tank) I did clean out the screen but i did not take out the tank to clean it...

Well i got the car to start....i jumped the fuel pump to my battery charger and bam it starts running and pressurizes the fuel rail then it stops running....i start the car and it runs for a little while... So then i jump 87b and 30 and the fuel pump doesnt run. I check all the connections and fuses and they are all fine. When I jump the fuel pump it seems to only run for a couple seconds then stops running when the system is pressurized ...bad pump i guess right?
