944 Inside door handle retrofit?

Does any one know if you can replace the inside door handles of a pre '85 944 with the newer rounded ones? Is it a straight swap?

Yes, you can change them out. Makes a nice upgrade.

Wow. I wish I'd known this when I still had my '84 944. I remember looking at those and saw the same exact part on our family's '72 VW Bus when I was little!
