Sell it and buy a more powerful car. There are exactly ZERO inexpensive or even only moderately expensive ways to gain a meaningful power improvement for a 944 N/A.

Now, if you have $10,000 to $20,000 to play with, you might be able to coax 30-50 more HP from an N/A engine.

To address your ideas one by one:

Supercharger: No reputable factory kits available. Stock injectors would not handle fuel delivery needs. Stock compression ratio is far too high for much boost, you'd need to change out the pistons.

Cam: Nope. Stock cam is very, very good, no meaningful power is available here.

Fuel Pressure Regulator: Will not do a damn thing unless you make other modifications that require the engine to use mroe fuel.

Ignition system: Will not do a damn thing.

Exhaust: Will not do a damn thing except change the sound. The stock system is already designed with a very good header and large diameter, free-flowing tubing.

Chip: Can fatten the torque curve a little, but will not give more than 5 hp/tq in total. Raising the redline to 7,000 RPM is NOT a good idea, the 8v engine does not breathe well enough at high RPM to make that worthwhile at all.

Nitrous: Just say "no". If you can't afford to do the other things properly, you won't be able to afford to do this properly either.

Oh, and one more thing...

Hello Alina

Completely untrue. The stock cam has no valve overlap and is a big restriction. Its the reason why 90% of modifications done to the regular 8v engine have no effect.

A different grind cam can net you anywhere from 8-17hp over stock. Noone really knows what difference it has on the power band as noone has dyno charts of a JME cam, but in talking to John Milledge it apparently is not much different from the stock power band...maybe 3-400rpms later.

To get to 200HP your BEST option is to sell your car and buy another. Unless there is a very good reason or personal attachment to your 8v sell it and look at a 944S, 944S2 or 951. Even if you have invested a lot of money into suspension or other upgrades those can always be taken out and put on the new car.

My 8v was wrecked and I bought my 16v for the exact same amount. It was an upgrade of close to 40Hp for $0. I could have bought a 300HP 951 for a thousand more.

Upgrading is cool just know where to spend those dollars.
