Anyone ever convert from an Automatic to a stick shift

I was just wondering if anyone has converted their car from an automatic to a manual transmission and what this project would involve.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It's been discussed before. Do a search and you'll find a couple threads on it. The only way to affordably do it is with a donor car from roughly the same year. You couldn't use an 83 as there are differences. It would be a very involved process which would require a lot of time. You would basically need to change the complete driveline from the engine back, radiator, pedal assemblies to have a clutch pedal, clutch hydraulic system...that's just what I can think of off the top of my head but I'm guessing there is a lot more. It would be much cheaper to sell the car and buy a manual if that is what you really want. Of course you are always welcome to sell me the automatic for what you paid!

I looked at doing it on my 924S, decided it was more rewarding to fix the auto and sell it to someone who wanted/needed an auto (it had a blown rubber damper and needed to catch up on all the maintenance) rather than hack up a perfectly good body. Rather save the money and find a good stick car, there's enough of them out there!

Well, knowing me, I will probably visit my local wrecking yard many times over the next year and figure our what I need.

However, being the cheap A$$ tat I tend to be, I will probably never make the swap. And maybe down the road I will get a stickshift car.

It's not that bad as I still have my 914 which I love driving.

Well the one thing you don't need is a new radiator. Just plug the in/out ports for tranny oil cooler lines.
