Option Code 220

Hi there. My 944 has got an option code 220 Diff. This is listed in the decoder as a "Locking Differential". Is this their way of saying a limited slip differential or is it a form of auto locking diff as some accessory transmission companies sell. Just curious, as I know that I drive it up a very steep dirt driveway that my Suzuki vitara needs four wheel drive to get up in the wet and the 944 never slips a wheel if you are careful on the throttle. Normally any 2 wheel drive car is lucky to go up my road, and although I know the extra weight of the rear transmission helps, an open diff would be battling in the dry let alone the wet. Cheers.
