Of course I will now have to replace the headunit with one with a sub out and ipod input and replace the rear speakers as well. Why do all of my little inexpensive projects turn out this way??

THe power out put is only 50W. Is there noticeable bass? Where do you plan on putting it on the 944?

Its only 50w but apparently they are very efficient. I wasnt looking for a booming system in fact thats the opposite of what I wanted, I just wanted something to fill in the sound. It has delivered exaclty that so I was happy, then I played some beastie boys and the thing cranks out the bass pretty good. I am hoping to be able to direct the bass to the sub and only use the 4x6's for mids and highs. As it is I cant hear my stereo if my windows are down and roof out.

I will put it in the back hatch aimed towards the tail lights. Its not a daily driver so I dont really worry about theft if that is what you are getting at. They unplug really easy if I do need to go anywhere dicey.

Yes, it all started with a $200 set of RA1's. Then I needed wheels, then springs, sway bars, struts, shocks, Torsion bars, race seats..

My name is Dave, I have a Porsche addiction...

I have one of those as well, in the same position Dave's is. I didn't want window-rattling bass (ugh) but it delivers an awesome 'punch' to accentuate my music properly. It's the same reason I run a Klipsch subwoofer on my PC's sound system, you don't know what you're missing until you put a little subwoofer in the mix.

Yea i was planning on making a MDF box for the cubby and run like a 8 or 10 inch sub. How do you turn the bass down on the midrange's so you can run all the bass out the sub? Oh and for all you audiophiles, i am kinda thinking the 4 speakers create a lot of distortion, so i was planning on only using the fronts. Is this true?

by using a HPC (high pass crossover) i have mine set at 125Hz and have my sub set at 125Hz using the LPC ( low pass crossover) and all of that was built into my deck. you should be able to adjust all those settings via the deck if its any good. my sub has moved into the center of the car now.

I don't listen to any rap, so for me bass is really part of the music. But I DO like my music loud, and with the windows down at highway speed, you really do need it to go loud.

I run 6x9's in the hatch off the deck, 4x6s in the front doors and a separate tweeter pair on the a-pillars both run off a 75Wx2 amplifier, and then two subs in a smallish box off a separate amplifier.

I've found that if you want loud, you pretty much have to go with an amplifier.

i have all 4 of my 4x6's run off my deck at 35w per channel. then the sub is sitting with about 250w all the porwer ratings are rms nor peak. and let me tell you it gets loud enough that i cant hear anything but the music with the windows down at 90mph.

Pimp-a-riffic.

Loud music only serves to mask the sound of the engine, which to me is sweeter music anyway.

It's also an easy way to not pick up on little noises that can be precursors to big problems. . . But once in a while is fine I guess.

^Oh yeah, definitely. I don't always blast the music, but when you do drive the car a bit, it gets somewhat lonely. But you're right about not picking up smallish noises.

myskyon - you sure that your deck puts out 35W rms per channel? That's literally double what I've seen any deck put out. Either way, if it's loud it's loud, so if it works for you then great. Make sure you're not clipping the speakers, unless you just don't care about replacing them every once in a while either.

yeah its 55w peak power. i only turn it up to just befor clipping. that and the fact that replacements are only $20 a pair who cares. but i do listen to my car as said befor it does get lonly somtimes. as i drive 40miles each way to work so 80+ miles a day. but now that its cold here i only listen to it so it is about as loud as the engine or a little lower.

Dave - I'm looking into these also but wanted to let you know, you don't HAVE to change the head unit. You can run these off any stereo. All you do is tap the + on the left rear and the + on the right rear speakers. Run those two to the +/- input on the sub. It doesn't affect the impedence. It's called a "third channel" and although doesn't work quite as well as a sub out, it will work.

Todd, Thanks, yes I know, infact Bazooka recomends running them off the speaker leads for some reason.

I have an old Pioneer unit which has a green display so that bugs me, I also want a unit I can plug my Ipod into, Having the ability to control the volume of the sub is a nice feature and gives me an excuss to upgrade
