Tips for Removing Intake?

I am on step 24 of this headgasket procedure: http://members.rennlist.com/tom86951/headgasket.htm

It seems that "intake should pull up and out" is close to the Haynes' manual's "installation is the reverse of removal" hillarious oversimplification.

The intake seems as secure on the head as it did when the allen bolts were still attached. Any tips on getting it off?

One 13mm bolt on front by throttle body, two allen head bolts by oil fill tube, one 10mm (or maybe 11mm) bolt holding the dip stick tube mount and the 8 allen heads. Also disconnect the speed / reference sensor bracket. Im pretty sure thats it.

The 13mm bolt is easy to forget but it looks like the procedure addresses it on step #22.

The allen bolts at the rear (step #20) are also easy to forget.

Just go around and check everything slowly/carefully. Could just be a hose or getting hung up on something. One thing about a 951 is you'll get a LOT of experience pulling that intake off. I used to be able to do mine in about 15-20 minutes.

Check the back of the intake close to the firewall. There are a lot of wires, hoses, and other junk back there that the intake loves to get hung up on.

I removed all aforementioned bolts, brackets, hoses. The thing still feels like it is bolted down to the head! It literally isn't even loose. I can't even wiggle it. It's on there like it's bolted down.

I just removed mine yesterday to get at the oil separator. I had to hit it with a rubber mallet to get it to break the seal on the gaskets.

Cheers,
Jeff

You got off all 8 alan bolts right?

Try hitting it from the side with a rubber mallet if you have.

Yup, I was very careful, don't worry. That's why it took me so long to get the intake off, I was being overly cautious.
