This is a difficult post, I crashed my 951
Freak accident, going around a turn at a safe speed and encountered slight over steer upon correcting I over braked and hit loose gravel causing a spin. My passenger and I are fine luckily the impact was about 15mph. I thank god there was a guardrail other wise I probably wouldn't be typing this right now.
What happen is very similar to this thread... http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/showthread.php?t=412201 I say the cause is wheel bearings. I've heard them making noise in the past but for the last few months they've been quiet. Visually the quarter panel looks worse but after I had a bodyshop look over the car they pointed out that the front of the car has the worst damage and it needs to be placed on the frame machine. No I'm faced with the decision to either have it repair (I'll source parts), get a whole parts car (one fs locally), or review my insurance policy. :crying: If anyone in northern california has any turbo/s2 body panels I may need please PM me. I will be going down to parts heaven for their swap meet on sunday. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Damn, that's too bad, but glad that you and your passenger are ok. At the end of the day, they are still just cars, and can be fixed...

Sorry to hear about your incident, although I wonder what the definition of "safe speed" is here
![]() Front looks like it could be messed up for sure, especially in that picture of the engine compartment. Hope you get it all sorted out soon. I would check with your local PCA region on getting some comparable valuations so that you have something to fight your insurance company with. Good luck in the fight ahead... Keith

Glad you were able to walk away from it!
The good news is my old 924S was banged up ALOT worse than that, and it straightened out really well. The photo of the hood mis-alignment isn't too bad, what happens is, the two main box "frame" pieces that extend forward of the wheel wells shift to one side or the other from impact. They can be straightened without too much work. Since the Insurance co. totaled my 24S, I ended up straightening it with chains and come-a-longs, of course it became a track car after that. Good luck, -Nick

I started taking it apart yesterday. Local PCA is having a swap meet on sunday Parts Heaven in Hayward and I'm going to look at a complete parts car sometime over the weekend.

Sorry for your loss...wrecking your favorite car is never a good thing.
On a more selfish note...now I see how the turbo brake ducts work that I always see on eBay and wonder if they would work on my n/a.....they just might. Vern |

Wow that sucks. Hope you can cheaply and easily fix it, but it looks like it will be a PITA.
