Testing DME

On clarks page for testing the signal to the dme (http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/fuel-16.htm) Fuel Pump / DME Relay Primary Coil Activation it says to do the following:
Disconnect the plug from the DME Computer. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position and check for supply voltage (approximately 12 VDC) from the Fuel Pump / DME Relay to the DME computer electrical connector.
All 944s and 968s - Terminal 18 to Ground and Terminal 35 to Ground
Am I missing something here? But how can I check for voltage when it says to put 18 & 35 to ground?

I am of course having a No Start issue. I'm not able to get spark at the spark plugs. Checking the ignition coil per clarks looks good so far.

Make sure the connectors for the speed and reference sensors are connected. They are on top near the firewall end of the intake.

It should read;

Between terminal 18 and ground (terminal 5), and between terminal 35 and ground (terminal 5).

Cheers,
