How do I replace backup/reverse switch?
Hello everyone,
The backup switch on my 1985/1 944 has gone bad and I need to replace it. Has anyone been able to replace the switch without removing the tranny? The switch is located in a very tight spot and I haven't been able to reach it with any of my tools. Thanks, Max H.

Greetings Max,
No need to remove transaxle. Scrub the dirt and oil away so none falls in hole. You may get better view if you jack up rear and take off trans mount if necessary. Any cheap switch similiar to aftermarket will work to get your backup lights working again. John_AZ 1988 924S + 1987 924S |

You don't have to remove the mount. A deep socket is what I used. IIRC, it's a 27mm. 1 1/8 may have been the ticket though.
