S2 sensor

I have just installed a '91 S2 engine in my '87S. On the new engine there is a sensor, with two electrical connectors, on the underside of the intake manifold. Does anyone know what it is for and how it is connected?

Hi Sigurd,

Can you send a pic or narrow it down for me. Is it attached to the intake manifold or just underneath? I don't see anything different than the S, temp sensor, two knock sensors and the idle control valve, but it may be out of my sight. If it helps, I have both the cars you are talking about 87S and 91S2.

Good luck!

Thanks. I'll be on it on Sunday.

I must say, there is a definite improvement in torque with the newer engine.

Cool! Didn't realize that it was up and running. The sensor can't be THAT important then right?! You will LOVE the 3.0! It is a blast!

I'm sorry but I was not able to take a picture. However, I found the sensor on the PET, (944 606 137 00) where it is called "temperature switch for intake manifold". In the wiring diagram there is a sensor called "switch intake pipe cooling" Could it be the same?
