What is option code C88?

1985.5 944 has C88 listed with the option codes. I cannot find this code anywhere. Can anybody help figure this out?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Country code does make sense.

The car is from Kansas. Could someone check their USA 1985.5 car for this code?

If anybody knows anything else, please post.

Thank you.

Randal-
Looking at all the databases I know of C88 is not listed. Maybe you can get us a picture of the code sticker like this?

Also, Where abouts in OKC are you?

Well, if my country code idea is not correct, here is a Porsche C88 concept car for China.

http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?p=442982

OR the C88 modified roof rack for the 944

BTW C02= catalytic converter from my previous link

It was a package that Porsche installed into your car, so say the factory decided they were selling alot more 944's all with a certain set parmaters like the raised hub steering wheel, door speakers, and cruise control! They would just start installing all those in cars with this package and charge a little more for them? Its nothing too special, the next year car might have all had these options asa standard equipment. If you want more help your going to need to get the rest of your option codes up on this board and confirm the rest of your cars equpment with other owners of those C88 cars!

Porsche4Life,

I live in Far NW OKC (by Piedmont).

The 944 is my Dad's car. I am trying to help him figure out all the codes. We have all the codes figured out except C88. If I remember right, the C88 is in the place where the C02 is on your sticker. The car is not at my house, so I can't go out and look.

Thanks to everybody for your help.

Hmm,
I am not sure what that code could be. Like some have said maybe a country or emissions code.

I am out near Clinton. Are you active in the OKC PCA? I am going to join at the end of April. Give me a shout if you are ever out this way. We can go have a good BBQ sandwich at Jiggs. Woolly Burgers on me if you can finish it. :P

I come out to Weatherford once in a while. I have a Brother-in-law who lives there.

I am a Board member of the OKC PCA (War Bonnet Region).
You should join before April. I am putting together a gimmick rally for April 18th which will end at our annual new member dinner. Come on out for a whole lot of fun and pizza.

Here is the War Bonnet website. www.warbonnet.org

I recognized I have this on my 85.5 N/A today as well and cannot find anything online about this code and V61.

While C88 has been mentioned several times as far back as 2001, nothing has been said on V61 (according to the search):

What is 944 option code C88?

Option Codes

What is C88 in my option code

WHAT the HELL is c88!!!!!!

In all these posts including this one, all we have is a lot of speculation and nothing concrete. I wonder why this is.

Can anyone answer this once and for all what the C88 option code is (and hopefully the V61 option code as well?)

Many thanks!

Jim

V61?
Version 61?
C88--maybe not used or vehicles sent to specific parts of country .

From my first link above: "The first code you will see on the white label is C?and this is to identify for which market the car was produced. COO=Germany, CO5=France, C16=UK, C23 Belgium, C32=Saudi Arabia e.t.c.

http://944turbo.net/?p=145

Still a mystery

I have a 85.5 with the c88 option code. I think it has sport seats which are not listed on the other option codes. serial # WPOAA0943FN456027. Sure would like to know what the C88 means.

Also have a 87 944 with a C77 and DX08 option codes. I cannot find any information on these either. Both cars have what I think are sport seats, not listed on the option sticker otherwise.

Both cars were bought used in New England (NH and ME).

Call your dealer with your VIN and have them check options in their PET program. That's the only way you'll know for sure. It will display more option codes than your options sticker.
