Engine Drop - Remove Head First For Extra Clearance?

This sounds so obvious...but I have not seen this mentioned - that to gain some extra clearance for an engine drop I may as well just remove the head first - make sense?

u could, but it's not needed. as long as you the 21 inches clearance, you're fine.

Just remove the distributor cap and rotor and the radiator fans, and you should have plenty of room.

I had to remove the oil filter to get another 1/2" to 1" on the right side just to be safe.

If you remove the dist. cap, also remove the rotor. I didn't and when lowering the engine out, I bumped it into the radiator crossmember and it chipped the rotor. They aren't cheap.

I would remove the radiator (you never know) - they aren't cheap either.

I wouldn't as the studs go up to just about the same height. If you need acouple inches a block of wood works well.

drop it with the head. Remove radiator as others have suggested.
