Simple Front End Toe Alignment

Hi All,

I have to replace my steering rack and am trying to find some tips or a guide to readjust my front end toe after I reinstall the new rack. Can anyone offer a guide, link, or some tips on how to do a front end alignment for the toe adjustment only? I plan on replacing my struts eventually but at that point i will bring it in to be professionally done.

straighten yer steering wheel and a tape measure. measure from outer tread groove to outer tread groove at the back of the tire. then measure from outer tread groove to outer tread groove in front of the tire.

if front is wider than rear, thread tie rods inwards. if rear wider than front, thread tie rod outwards

A tape measure is hard to keep straight by yourself. If you have a partner, it's a good tool. We used a similar one to these:

It's a long bar that sits half way up the tires. First, striaghten the steering wheel. Measure the distance between the tires at the back of the tires. Then measure the same distance at the front of the wheel. Toe-in should give you a smaller distance at the front by 1° as stated above.
