				Tach and MPG gauge inop

Just purchased this 83 944. Came with the gas gauge, tach and mpg gauge inop. Repaired fuel sender, had a bad ground inside the float system. Now I'm looking for some help on what I should look at first about the tach. I assume that the rpm and mpg are in the same gauge cluster that maybe it's a ground or power the the cluster. The stock radio has been changed if that might have something to do with it. I'm open for directions. thanks | ||

Check for loose connections on the back of the cluster. My 84's had a lot of the old plastic connectors not connecting securely. Vibration could have knocked it loose.

Thanks, I will try to check that today. That's what my thought was, that it was behind the cluster. thanks

There are separate connectors for both the tach and the MPG gauge, check out the other thread here over the past few days for MPG gauge info.

Well I found that someone must have kicked out the connector under the das. Plugged back in now the tach works fine. Need to look around under the dash a little more to see if I can find maybe another plug loose.
