Running Fuchs on an 87 944
I posted this same thing on rennlist and I also want to get the Pelican guys thoughts.
Im pondering the idea of trying to run Fuch wheels on an 87 with a late offset. Has anyone here tried this ?? I know this has come up ( with the answer being no) but a few people have said you can if you use a narrow wheel. Take a look at these pictures I found of a 1989 944 with fuchs they appear to be sticking out a bit in the rear but Im thinking the if I go down a size they should tuck in there. Thoughts ?? http://autolivery.com/assets/cars/KN450888-16sm.jpg http://autolivery.com/assets/cars/KN450888-10sm.jpg

Looks like that car in the pictures is running a 6 inch wide in front, and a 7 inch wide in rear. If you go down a size, you will be running 6 inch wide wheels all around?? Looks like it might work, but it might look kind of funny!
![]() I have an early 944 with the offset you need! I want to run later wheels on my car, but I don't really want to use spacers. I wish I could trade you offsets! LOL! |

Theres a fellow on rennlist who ran 7x15s with lots of negative camber.. and it worked. How stock is your suspension? What size tire do you want to run.
While it *could* work, the question becomes.. why? to be different? One advantage to the late offset cars (87+) is the huge number of factory and aftermarket wheels available to use.

Why - I really like the look of the fuchs wheel.
Suspension is stock with exception of Koni shocks and struts.

How serious are you about doing this? Swapping the necessary suspension components to "convert" your car to early offset could be done in a weekend.
And I am with you, I LOVE those wheels. Maybe it's all those Hot Wheels cars from my childhood. . .
