question about dif wheels for 85 N/A
Can anyone tell me which wheels from other models will fit the 85/1 944 without having to change anything? U know, plug n play?. Can 17" 993 wheels work w/o having to do any mods?
Also what wheels are best to use spacers with and how to use them? Just bought 1st Porsche about month ago and would like an extra set of wheels. Car has factory cookie cutters on them now. Thanks for any help! |

there's 3 styles made for 944. phone dials, fuchs, and cookie cutters.
i think ppl also said turbo twists work....but not sure if that's with spacer or not |

You would need to know the offset(s). These cup2 rims can have offsets ranging from 53mm right up to 70mm depending on width an application.
9 inch rears with an offset of 70mm would leave you needing a 45-50mm spacer! Just be sure you understand how offsets work before buying anything. |

Its all about the offset. Factory wheels that fit, with no spacers or adaptors, you are limited to "early" offset wheels - Fuchs, Cookies and Phone Dials. You could also find early offset BBS wheels (think Gold mesh wheels
![]() Offset is the distance between the wheels' centerline and mounting surface. ET52 on a wheel would mean a positive offset of 52mm.. this would be a "late" offset. On something like Fuchs, you could see ET23 which is an offset of 23mm. To make the late wheel work on an early car, you would need at least a 1" spacer (or more!)

You can get C2 replicas for early offset 944 but I don't recommend them. They are very heavy and you can feel a significant loss of power. 17" rims look great but your car will feel tired. Your best bet is to stick with a 15" rim unless a brake upgrade demands a larger rim.

Hi ,I think ride quality is an issue with anything over 16'',I don't believe these early cars were ever designed for that ,anyway as for spacers a bit of careful measuring can get your track up to the the later cars this has worked well for me with S2/964 and 911 Fuches wheels (both 16").
Really important to use good spacers the H&R ones are a very good precise fit and are built to an approved euro standard, cheap ones are way too scary for me,cheers. |
