thinking some more about this, i remember finding that one end of the sway bar had come completely out of its rubber grommet. it would sometimes clunk when turning hard or when i hit an incline, like the beginning of a driveway.

Im going to check the sway bar brackets. It is definitely the front though, no question. Not the CV joints
My 24S had that terrible noise...I also noticed on the way back from class that it seems to happen each direction I turn, as well as when I'm hitting the brakes almost at a stop

hmmm...... ball joints.
edit: sway bar brackets also sound possible. OH HELL! if it is doing this at stops, you need to check the bolts securing the A-arms to the frame/body of the car. (ask me how i know....)
