Trying to install motor tommorow! (sunday) any help is appreciated! (MA/NH area)

hey as the subject says I'm going to try to get the motor in and running tommorow, I have Mr. Cole comming up with all the tools we should need so anyone else that is available would be appreciated!! let me know if you wanna come up I'll give you directions, I'm right off exit 51 off 95 in MA.

I've got the timing belt tools ready to go. I think I also have the proper instructions downloaded from Clarks Garage (but I just did the t-belt a few weeks ago to my car so memory is good as well). My factory manuals on CD went t1ts up - probably the bad karma since I found out they were pirated. Where and when is the party being held? Directions? NOTE that my home email is porschluvr@aol.com

BTW - When I say "timing belt tools" I mean the following: flywheel lock, two pin holder for securing gears, properly sized sockets, big socket for turning the crank, and a krikit. That collection worked on mine so we should be good to go.

If you have a printer, this will be incredibly helpful...

Uhmmm you guys have the front seals and the replacement piece for that broken balance belt housing ? Or your party is going to be shortlived.

Also clutch alignment tool so you can get his pressure plate back on.............The flywheel lock is not going to be much use but if you have an impact you may be able to remove the crank bolt without the crank wanting to turn.

Hey Eric, it was good meeting you today and seeing your car. I see no reason why your project shouldn't be up and running with just a couple of weekends of wrenching. And ae1969, you were right about the flywheel lock. I didn't realize the bell housing was off the new motor. So we bolted one on from the old motor and the flywheel lock worked well.

Anyway, Eric, I can help out with finishing up the front end (i.e. balance shaft belt, ps pump, alternator, hoses etc) but someone will be needed who understands the back end (i.e. clutch linkage, starter, and drive shaft) plus some clue as to how to get the motor in place. Then it will be just a few electrical connections, add oil and coolant, and the car will be done.

PS. I'd also be real curious to know what the other Pelican guys have to say about the tensioner.

And here is a picture to show where the part normally goes. It is the shaft on which the spring goes for the timing belt tensioner. The threaded end goes to the right on this picture and is held in place with a nut. The eye bolt attaches to the tensioner and "pushes" on it with the proper tension. Both sides appear to be bent which didn't seem right.

Uhmmmm looks like you have a bent tensioner shaft.

Fix that...or same thing will happen that caused that....

Broken belt...

Thumbs up to you Janus for helping Eric out........I was feeling pretty bad that no one was stepping up. I'll buy you a beer if you ever come to this frozen tundra.

Glad to hear this project will be finished....
