diagnostic scan adapter
Folks:
I saw this adapter on ebay: I gather it is supposed to allow you to hook up a 944 diagnostic port to a standard OBD2 scanner. Has anyone had any experience with this? Can you retrieve diagnostic codes. Thanks |

it will give you generic obd2 info. idle speed ,voltage etc... do not know if it will give you any useful info trouble codes,etc.. but for $15.00 it is worth a try.

I think there's a diagnostic port in the engine bay, but it's not OBDII, of course. That's what the adapter is for.
I think LUFTMAN is right, though. It won't give any trouble codes, just running information, which you need a "better" model of scanner for, anyways. I think Advance has them for about a hundred bucks. Idk, the gamble might be worth it to someone.

I've never seen that 19 pin connector on a 944. I think the it is only ODD0 compatible, not 1 or 2, meaning the adapter won't work.

That only good for S2 or later, I pretty sure.

Is there a diagnostic port in the engine bay, though? If not, what the heck is that thing?

You mean the 5-pin? That not diagnostic port. DP is inside passenger comp.

That 19 pin port is on the 968's, possibly on the S2's as well. It's in the passenger footwell up under the dash, outboard of the glovebox. If you don't have a big round plug up there, don't bother. That said, I might get one of these and give it a shot.
